Straight from Swaddling to Swilling

What do you call a drunk, cross dressing, Christmas present thief that is harassing the neighbors? If you were in Chattanooga,Tennessee this week (I was)- the appropriate response would be “a four-year old”.

At 1:45 a.m. Tuesday morning, most people were asleep in Hayden Wright’s neighborhood. But 4-year-old Hayden Wright wasn’t sleeping. He was drunk and breaking into his neighbor’s homes. When police arrived at a house not far from his own, a place the boy had arrived at by simply ringing the doorbell and having it answered, they discovered that little Hayden Wright had had a beer and was wearing a brown dress. How and why he was there, drunk, in the middle of the night is truly a sad tale… ~

Just a reminder to those of you still drinking and smoking in front of your kids; they do pay attention, and explaining that this is wrong and should not be emulated is a very lame excuse. That goes for cigarettes, alcohol, drugs and especially going to jail.

According to Hayden’s mother, April Wright, the 4-year-old tries his best to get into trouble so he can see his father, who happens to be in jail. “He runs away trying to find his father,” April told WTVC-TV. “He wants to get in trouble so he can go to jail because that’s where his daddy is.”

Buy This Dad a Brain at The Discovering AlcoholicThis child is facing some tragic family of origin issues because of a rogue father. I didn’t have a picture of the prison papa so I’ll leave you with a pathetic papa from the archives.

I saw that one and was going to forward it to you, but you’re already on it. How sad. The comments on the news article I saw were just as sad though: many advocated beating the child to teach him not to do it again.
