R.I.P. Glenn Frey

by Screedler on January 18, 2016

Sad day for Eagles fans around the world as founding member Glenn Frey passed away today.  I am one of the lucky ones who got to see them during their heyday.  My dad actually took me and friend of mine to an Eagles concert on their Long Run tour.  I was 17 in 1980.  The ticket stub is one of my prized possessions in an extensive collection.  In my memory, it remains one of the best sounding live performances I have ever witnessed.   They sounded exactly like they did on their records… fantastic.

Here are just a few songs he wrote or co-wrote with Don Henley that fit in quite well with our subject matter here.

Take It To The Limit
Tequila Sunrise
Smuggler’s Blues
Life In The Fast Lane

and one of the Holy Trinity in my Rock Music litany: Stairway to Heaven, Freebird, and:

I don’t always listen to “Hotel California”, but when I do… so do the neighbors.

one more classic that showcases his distinctive style and ability to sing a great story.

Rest in Peace Glenn.

Glenn Frey will be terribly missed. All of us loved him and he will be cherished in our memories forever. Our condolences.

I love checking in here as it always seems to link to some thing, someone, or some music that I like. Loved the John Stamos pointer, I have lusted after that man forever but had no idea he had past issues. Who knew I liked the Eagles so much, just watched both videos and sang word perfect all the way through, lastly thank you so very much for introducing me to Nathaniel Rateliff and the Nightsweats. First time I have ever bought an album based on one song and I love it. Just wanted to say you are doing good work here and I appreciate it.
