New CBS Sitcom “Mom” Centers On Recovering Alcoholics

There’s a new TV show this Thursday at 8pm (CST) I plan on trying to catch.  Frankly this introductory clip is not that funny in my opinion, but I will give it a chance because of the subject matter.  From the creator of The Big Bang Theory and starring Anna Farris I have high hopes that it will get better as the season develops and somewhat rooted in the reality of it’s premise.  From CBS:

MOM is a comedy from executive producer Chuck Lorre starring Anna Faris as a newly sober single mom raising two children in a world full of temptations and pitfalls, and multiple Emmy Award winner Allison Janney as her critical, estranged mother.  Christy (Faris) is a waitress at a posh Napa Valley establishment who is four months clean and doing her best to be a good mom and overcome a history of questionable choices. Her sobriety is tested when Bonnie (Janney), her recovering alcoholic mom, reappears chock-full of passive-aggressive insights into Christy’s many mistakes.

Watched it last night, and I love it! Recommend giving it a look, especially if you like your humor a bit on the dark side, and appreciate the sober everyday hero. Acting of entire ensemble is great all around. Excellent writers, often wanted to laugh and cry at the same time!
