I am in the midst of a career change, or more accurately a rearrangement.

Cutting off ties with my present biggest employer reminds me of terminating some toxic friendships for sobriety’s sake.  The job wasn’t all bad, as it crystallized some of my life goals.  Being happy is way more important than being successful.  Or as I now see it, being happy is being successful.

One of the first things they teach you in rehab – you are going to have to be changing people, places, and things to make this work, seems part of the plan now.  Re-familiarizing myself with the material used to navigate that portion of recovery has proved invaluable.  These two are worth sharing:

New Beginnings: When Moving Forward Means Leaving the Past Behind – the best post I have found that can be repurposed for this situation.

3 Areas of Change in Your Recovery: People, Places and Things – more substance abuse related but still useful insights.
