Anthrax Alcoholic

Hat Tip and thanks to TDA researcher Anna Z for the heads up on this one!
anthrax alcoholicIt seems that CNN and The Washington Post are intent on blaming the FBI for the wrongful death of Bruce Ivins who was fingered for the 2001 anthrax killings before he committed suicide last week.

As if to prove a pattern, the CNN article mentions alleged FBI strong arm tactics against Dr. Steve Hatfill, a person of interest earlier in the case, as being relevant without mentioning the almost overwhelming circumstancial evidence against him and the pointed fingers of his own peers. He eventually settled for a large sum, so I doubt the FBI was blameless but they omit the fact that it was actually The New York Times that created the initial media frenzy and who Hatfield also sued.

Then the Washington Post seemingly suggest that Dr. Ivin’s alcoholism and substance abuse make him a victim yet strangely enough point out his therapist’s past substance abuse problems as possibly making her an unreliable witness. I guess a better title for this piece would be anthrax alcoholic garners media sympathy while addict witness is thrown under the bus.

Not to split hairs here, but if they have a hard time believing the therapist; just where does all this confidence in a practicing alcoholic handling weapons of mass destruction come from?

Alcoholics, addicts, and even G-men… I personally rank them all head and shoulders higher on the trust scale than any mainstream media journalist. But seriously, I shudder to think about what would have happened if I had access to WMD while drinking. It’s doubtful I would have perpetuated an act of terror, but I can assure you that I would have checked the going price of anthrax at the local pawn shop!
