The ever cool Tom Jones keeps popping up on my radar lately. I saw him recently doing a duet with Joss Stone on Palladia (the HD Music Channel) at the Rockwell Benefit in London.
He’s also been hitting my google alerts of late based on advice he once gave The King himself.
From the Daily Mirror - Pop star Sir Tom Jones has revealed he gave Elvis Presley advice about avoiding drugs. The singing legend and coach on The Voice, 72, said he steered clear of illegal substances in the Sixties and Seventies.
And after becoming good pals with Elvis in Las Vegas, Sir Tom said The King would “pick his brains a bit”.
He added: “He would say, ‘How do you deal with fame?’.
“And I’d say, ‘Well, I enjoy it’. Then he’d say, ‘What drugs do you take to enjoy it?’.
“And I’d say, ‘I don’t — and I think that’s maybe helped me’.”
Tom said he “doesn’t get anything from drugs” — despite admitting that he was surrounded by marijuana and cocaine at parties in his heyday.
The Welsh crooner added he preferred some alcohol in moderation: “I like restaurants, I like pubs. “I like to be in the pub standing with the fellas by the bar. I still like a good pint of British”
Now this video of Tom and Janis is making the rounds and one wonders if Tom gave her the same advice. Like Elvis, she obviously ignored his wisdom.
To throw in a little SynchroDestiny …here’s Tom with CSN&Y; and I just happen to be going to see Neil Young in concert next month.

Hi,
Living legends like Tom Jones are the best examples for anyone in terms of keeping in shape and fit, even at his age. I would also like to praise his views on drugs, although not many celebrities have followed his advice, and they would be particularly useful tips of wisdom for a lot of aspiring and talented people in the leisure industry of today.
