The Invention of Lying: A Primer for Alcoholics?

by The Discovering Alcoholic on August 31, 2009

Anyone that has been in a relationship or worked closely with an alcoholic knows that as the addiction progresses so grows the web of lies. This interconnection is more than just coincidental; it’s a symptom and a process of alcoholism. The alcoholic uses lies to support their addictive behavior. As the prevarications become unsustainable both to themselves and others, they begin to fill in the gaps through confabulation in an effort to continue drinking and preserve sanity. For some, the “rock bottom” of their condition is the point where it becomes physically and mentally impossible to support the lies and the addiction.

So are we to blame this guy for inventing such integral part of alcoholism, I don’t think so… and the movie looks a whole lot funnier than the topic itself. The movie starts October 2nd, expect a recovery review.
