Ironman

by The Discovering Alcoholic on September 14, 2007

I love going to the movies… popcorn, big screen, and bone jarring surround sound can make even a bad movie an enjoyable experience. Well it was a stretch for me to post the 3:10 to Yuma movie trailer because there really was no direct tie to alcoholism or drug addiction, but I made it happen anyway with Russell Crowe’s all to publicized drunken rages. The upcoming movie about the Marvel Comic’s superhero Ironman however is a no-brainer. The tragic flaw that most of the Marvel Comic characters have in Ironman’s case is… you guessed it, alcoholism.

”The plot of the Ironman comic take a different turn than other superhero comics when Stark becomes an alcoholic and battles the disease, turning his iron suit over to his friend, Rhodes, to take over the role he can no longer fulfill. According to fans, this shows his human side and proves that he does have failings just as ordinary people do. He is the one superhero who could actually exist.”~ Comics Etc

Even though the director does not address alcoholism directly in this episode, it is apparent even in the trailer that Tony Stark aka Ironman may have issues with his drinking. Marvel production president Kevin Feige has said that alcoholism would likely be an issue in the sequel.

So sit back and enjoy the show, the trailer is pretty cool.
