Several weeks ago I mentioned to TDA that a favorite band of mine was going to play at a local music festival and asked him if he might like to attend with me. The event Schaeffer Crawfish Boil is a yearly event in Birmingham and has attracted many big name acts over the years. This year has many highlights but the one band I was most interested in seeing is Everclear. TDA said he has always liked their music but wasn’t sold on the idea mainly due to his aversion to a throng of beer swilling mud bug eaters. I tried to sway his opinion by throwing in the fact that the lead singer for Everclear is a recovered(ing) addict. Which led to several questions which I did not know the answer to? In an attempt to further my knowledge on all things Everclear I used the internet to research Art’s story and see if he had any thoughts on recovery.

This much I found out about Everclear, but it may not be accurate as it comes from the community bucket of information known as Wikipedia; it did however have several supporting links and a video which further sparked my curiosity. From these links alone I know he has a great story and a willingness to get the message out on the dangers of drug abuse; but nothing I found answered the two burning questions I would ask Art. One – how did you come up with the name for your band and what does it mean to you – My guess is that it’s a double entendre of the 190 proof alcohol and to be ever clear (with your thoughts and your body) and Two – how did you go about recovery – I mean being sober and a rock star is like being an alcoholic and a bartender – it has to be very challenging.
So here is the deal Art. I have become a member of your website and I am going to try to contact you to get the answers to my questions. If I can get an interview with you for TDA (telephone, internet or in person), he has agreed to go to the concert with me. I promise not to hit you up for free tickets or backstage passes – and to not take more than 15 minutes of your time. I just want to hear your story and your thoughts on recovery. We at TDA are very open minded and are a whatever works for you kind of site. I know its short notice (concert is May 2 @ 5:45pm) but we would love to hear from you. Screedler

Everclears myspace is the best way to get in contact with Art. He runs it himself and checks it regularly.
I will do so
