Less Cancer, More Birthdays

by The Discovering Alcoholic on November 18, 2009

Less Cancer, More Birthdays at The Discovering Alcoholic The American Society’s Great American Smokeout is this Thursday, so if you have been looking for a good day to stop smoking- it’s time to man up.

I know that many in recovery claim that smoking helps keep them sober including me back in the nicotine stained days, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Beyond the fact that smoking is bad for one’s health, admitting one’s powerlessness to tobacco undermines recovery.

The odds are steep with only 5% of people who try going cold turkey become smoke-free and less than one in three with medication and therapy, but the rewards are immediate and only get better in time.
